Last Sunday, Year 9 student Mouhammad Ali Taha competed at the Otago/Southland Regional Karate Championships held in Alexandra.
Mouhammad Ali is a member of a local Okinawan Goju-Ryu club and has been practicing karate for three years.
His hard work and dedication to his sport paid off with being awarded a gold medal in the Sparring event and a bronze in Technique in the Boy's 14-15 age group.
Mouhammad Ali is currently a green belt and will be participating in a grading at the end of the year where he hopes to be awarded a brown belt. He is looking forward to attending both the 2023 regionals and the schools' championships next year.
