Year 9 student Neo Salomonsson's perseverance in the pool is paying off.
Having already broken Otago records in backstroke and freestyle, he had his heart set on the hat-trick by securing a record time in butterfly.
Early mornings spent in the pool working on his technique and doing weights at home for strength have all been worth it. Neo recently competed in the Swim Timaru invitational meet where he broke the previous record (set in 2013) of 28.52 with a time of 28.43, in the short course 50m butterfly event.
Last weekend, Neo competed in the Kiwi Long Course meet where he broke his second butterfly record for the season, this time in a long course 50m event.
