The SISS regatta was another outstanding success for OBHS rowers, despite some challenging rowing conditions on Sunday.

With a field of 1107 competitors from across the South Island, the OBHS rowers did incredibly well to get into 13 'A' finals and 11 'B' finals with five crews gaining a top three position.

Other crews were very close to winning a medal, coming 4th in the A finals.

  • U18 coxed quad skulls (Harry Graham, Alex Drummond, Jack Scott, Niall Alexander and George Anderson)
  • U17 coxed quad skulls (Levi Heffernan, Ryan Egan, Charlie Tisdall, Archie Chittock and George Anderson)
  • U16 coxed quad sculls (Eddie Burgess, Tamati Dennison, Judd Flannery and George Anderson) who were hot on the heels of the OBHS bronze medallists.

All the boys did OBHS proud with their conduct on and off the water and they also looked the part wearing their new rowing kit which thankfully arrived prior to the last regatta of the season.

Rowing for some of the boys has now ended for the season, we congratulate them on their dedication to the sport. It is not a small ask to be turfed out of bed to be on the water at 5.30am. All of them have improved enormously and we hope to see them back next year.

For a smaller squad, a long training weekend this coming weekend will aim to get the boys to peak performance before travelling to the Aon Maadi Regatta, held in Cambridge between the 27-31 March.
