A week at camp - 10B

The walk to 10B's Mount Aspiring camp began in the pouring rain and included a few river crossings.

Once we had delivered the food to the lodge by crossing the river again a few times, we gathered in the dining room for some soup and spaghetti bolognese.

Tuesday was mostly spent indoors playing games or frisbee golf. That evening's dinner was beef stew.

The overnight was on Wednesday. That morning, we packed our bags before eating an apple and some saveloys for lunch. We started our two-hour tramp to the riverbed after lunch. We pitched our tents and had a campfire there before going swimming. With the exception of the rare interruption to prepare dinner or gather firewood before going to sleep in the tents, we played games and chatted around a campfire in the evening.

On Thursday, we returned by foot to the Lodge where we had mashed potatoes and sausages for dinner.

We constructed dams, rafts, played another game of frisbee golf, and did some orienteering on Friday. After dinner and the teachers' judgments of our rafts and dams, we went to bed for the final time.

In the pleasant weather on Saturday, we packed up the lodge and headed back to the bus.

With only one day of rain, it was an enjoyable experience overall.

Thank you to the teachers (Mr Zani, Ms Martin, Mr Roe and Dr Fisher).
