Greetings to our School House families, we hope you have enjoyed the first week without your son/s. We have had a good start with ANZAC day in between. Winter codes are in full swing and our seniors are currently in the middle of the their Wananga Days getting some subject specific work done each day for an entire day.

ANZAC Day Services

It was great to attend the dawn service in Dunedin with so many of our hostel boys paying respect and honour to those who paved the way for our freedoms we enjoy to this day. Special acknowledgement to Year 12 Hunter Burgess and Year 10 Leo Burgess who played the bagpipes in the Dunedin City Bagpipe band, at the Dunedin dawn service, and then jumped in the car to head back out home to also give service in their hometown of Owaka. A great example of giving service to others.

Long Weekend Saturday 6th May - Tuesday 9th May

Please note after your son/s Saturday sporting commitments next weekend, we ask that you take them home for the long weekend as School is closed on Monday 8th May for Teacher Only Day, and Tuesday 9th May due to industrial striking action across the country. It's also a great opportunity to spend further quality time as a family.  We also understand some boys might be returning Friday afternoon in time for the start of duck shooting season.  Boys can return on Tuesday afternoon from 2pm onwards.  We will still look after our international boys as usual.

Flu Vaccination

Due to the above school closures and subsequent long weekend we will NOT be holding the flu vaccination in the morning of Monday 8th. This will be scheduled for May 15th. Any further requests can be emailed to [email protected]

School House Hostel Photo - Rescheduled

This is now next Thursday 4th May due to the unavailability of a number of our seniors who were on wananga days this week. This will be at 10:40am.

Country Visits Next Week

Thank you to some of our Juniors who will be helping with our country visits and giving a student perspective.

Activities

Our boys tried their hand or feet rather at some Ice Skating on the day off school during ANZAC day.  Another group of boys helped with some rugby skills and sessions alongside Otago Rugby Union High Performance Coaches down on Littlebourne at OBHS.  Some fun and new experiences had by all.
