On Thursday two of our Sustainability Group members, Finn Hibbert and Harry Burrow, took part in a 'beach clean-up' at Bayfield Inlet, organised by Enviroschools.
It was a beautiful afternoon to be out there. Hannah Drury from the Marine Studies Centre led the group through the Litter Intelligence data collection process.
Litter Intelligence is a long-term programme that collects litter data, provides insights about the litter problem, and inspires widespread action for solutions. It is led by New Zealand charity Sustainable Coastlines, and the programme works in close collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment, Department of Conservation and Statistics New Zealand.
