Congratulations to Year 9 Rahui Valli who scored 5 tries in the Inter-Hostel rugby match between our School House hostel and Thomas House hostel from Timaru Boys High School. A great display of talent and skill. Well done Rahui.
Congratulations to Year 9 Bob Tisdall who put in a great shift in the Inter-Hostel rugby match in the front row and secured the highlight of the match at the end with a well taken conversion to the delight of the entire School House contingent. Well done Bob.
Activities
Our boys enjoyed attending the final Highlanders home game on Friday night and also the final home game for All Black legend, Aaron Smith. An exciting match to view and great to see the Highlanders win the battle at the end of the game.
School House vs Thomas House Rugby Match
On Wednesday 24th May, the entire Year 9 hostel group along with some supporting Year 13s travelled to Oamaru and Excelsior RFC to meet Thomas House hostel from Timaru Boys High School and compete in the inaugural Hostel Year 9 rugby match. Filled with excitement and energy our year 9s got stuck into the opportunity of playing together as a group and having some fun along the way. Every boy who was able to play enjoyed the opportunity to join in on the match and added value to the team. With that connection and desire to develop their brotherhood, School House hostel game out on top winning the game 59-7. Well done to Captain Marley Leevey for leading by example on and off the field and well supported by his vice captain Rahui Valli and the rest of the team. Special acknowledgement to our boys who don't usually play rugby for getting involved and adding value. This was a great opportunity to bring our boys together as one and continue to build that brotherhood and togetherness. Thank you to our parents who traveled far to support our boys and special thanks to Jason Forest from North Otago Rugby and the Excelsior RFC for putting on a great venue and aftermath meal for our boys and their supporters. We look forward to seeing Thomas House next year.
Hair-cutting Session
A number of our boys like to give each other haircuts and we thought it would be great to bring in some expertise and help train and give our boys some helpful tips to improve their hair-cutting skills. We were grateful to have expert barber Andrew Muasika who does all the All Blacks and Highlanders when they are in town, pass on his knowledge to our boys and give them some confidence in what they were doing and also touched up a couple of there was a little error. Our boys cutting hair got some real good information and reinforcement on what they have been doing. Looking for to the next session and further development for our boys.
Timaru Boys High School Inter-School
Good luck to all our boys competing today in the Inter-School with Timaru Boys High School.
Leave:
Please make sure you get Leave in for your son/s well in advance. We have recently had some near misses of rides and transport as families have not put leave in and therefore we have not planned for drop offs and on a couple of occasions recently when boys have almost missed their buses or transport as our vehicles were already out and about doing other jobs when boys have said they needed to be dropped off to go home but no leave was put in and so we were unaware of them departing or going home etc.
