The Otago Boys' and Otago Girls' Production is in full swing, and everyone involved is extremely excited to present the show soon!
For the past couple of months, many OBHS boys have been busy practicing dancing, singing and acting in preparation for the show. This includes learning choreography, refining our roles and learning new harmonies and songs.
This year's production is an original show called The Magic City. Once a year, a magical portal opens to connect the mortal world into a new realm called The Magic City from dusk till dawn; immortals inhabit the Magic City and make various card game deals with mortals. The show follows Nina, Jack, Rem and Cass with their journeys in the Magic City, each respectively following their own path. The show has many musical numbers, including songs from the 2000s era up until modern pop; from the likes of The Spice Girls to Coldplay and Lizzo.
Otago Boys’ leads in the production this year are Teddy Finney-Waters playing the King, Lachie Hall playing Jack, Mikko Johnston as Knave and Bradley Escueta playing a guard. Our boys involved in the ensemble are Cheol Shin, Dallas Pankhurst, Enoch Park, Ethan Smith, Kade Robbie, Min Shin, Nathan Lau, Oban Voice, Rupene Skipper, Tama McNamara and Wallace Pham.
The show was written and directed by Miss Mackay, the drama teacher at Otago Girls' High School. All of the dances are choreographed by Sofia Amer, and Olivia Pike is our vocal coach for the show.
Tickets are now on sale; shows will run from the 20th to the 24th of June and we encourage friends and family to come along to support us, and to enjoy the show!
