Gateway 2023

My name is Hamish Wilson. I am in Year 13 and currently on Gateway placement every Thursday for the Otago Electrical and Communication Company.

This opportunity has been a very good experience. It allows me to gain knowledge of the trade that I am looking into for when I leave school. 

I have learnt many skills while on placement such as, fitting of lights, pre-wiring houses, and fitting switches and plugs. I am currently gaining experience on both residential and commercial sites which gives me many different skills. This is a great experience that I have the priviledge of doing through Gateway and have enjoyed the electrical placement.

I recommend this to anyone who is looking into a trade after school.
