Greetings to our School House hostel families and wider community. It has been a short week, but a busy time with lots on.
Men of the Week
Congratulations to Jonathan 'Jojo' King who Won the C Grade 100m Skeet at the Wakatipu Clay Target Club last weekend. He then competed in the B Grade at Alexandra and scored 95/100. Well done Jojo.
Congratulations to Mason Hansen who consistently puts his hand up to help around hostel, even without being asked. Gets on with helping his mates and has been nominated by staff. Well done Mason.
Hostel Success at Otago Regional Sports Awards 2023
Great to see ex hostel boy Hamish Faulks who won the Emerging Player of the Year at the Otago Regional Sports Awards on saturday night. Also outstanding to see the OBHS 1st Touch Team Win the Emerging Team of the Year. The team had a number hostel boys in the team and is a clear acknowledgement of their skill and talent. Special acknowledgement to hostel mum and former chair person of the School House committee, Andrea Faulks who was one of the managers of the team and a long standing supporter of touch in OBHS throughout the time her three sons went through School House. Congratulations also to Director of Boarding, Mr Vai Mahutariki who was also one of the coaches. Well done to all those involved.
Rostering Year Groups Home
The PPTA have rejected the most recent government package for its teaching members. Therefore from Monday to Thursday until the end of the term, two year groups at a time will be rostered home nation wide. Below is the planned roster. As we have done since the beginning of these rostered home initiatives, we will continue to have your son/s complete prep each morning after breakfast any leave can be taken that day, to ensure we can support their education as much as possible during these times while they are in hostel. We will continue to still have prep in the evenings as usual also. We also understand that some families may take advantage of some long weekends as well which is fine.
