Otago Boys’ High School faced off against Christchurch Boys’ High School in a highly anticipated match.
The last time Christchurch Boys’ played at the mighty OBHS gym, Otago Boys’ came out with the dub from a half court heave from Josh Reeves to beat the 4h quarter buzzer.
It was a highly contested performance from both sides in the 1st quarter, neither team able to find the ropes defensively. The 2nd quarter came around and Otago Boys’ comes out swinging with a fast break lop from Christopher Christof to Jack Henderson for a monster slam. This elevated the crowds noise carrying the boys into the 3rd quarter.
The start of the 3rd was shaky for the dream team which allowed Christchurch Boys’ to creep back in closing down the lead, but a spark of offensive brilliance from Christopher Christof as well as Otago Boys’ finding their feet defensively, they were able to maintain the lead heading into the 4th.
Starting the 4th quarter, Otago Boys’ had an 18 point lead, Christchurch Boys’ looked like they were making a late comeback but a few consecutive tough buckets from Noah McDowell iced the game.
Final score: 93 – 77 win to OBHS
