The Joint Dunedin Students’ Council will be hosting two parent information evenings around vaping and its impact on youth wellbeing.
These evenings will be presented by Professor Janet Hoek from the University of Otago. Professor Hoek has recently completed a study on this topic. Students from the Dunedin area were surveyed as to their thoughts as to how vaping impacts on wellbeing.
We feel that this is a unique lens to take on this topic, straying from the standard message of “don’t vape, it’s bad for you” and instead looking into an impact we previously were unsure of.
The evenings will be at Otago Boys’ High School on Wednesday, 16 August and at Taieri College on Thursday, 17 August. Both starting at 6pm. It is expected to run for about 1 hour, with a short presentation, followed by the opportunity for Q/A with Professor Hoek.
We hope to see you there.
