Powerlifting success

OBHS students Javara Clark (Year 12) and Lochlan Still (Year 13) competed at the National Powerlifting Championships held in Christchurch last weekend.

Lochlan took out 1st place in the Single Bench 14 – 18 Youth Under 85kg event with a lift of 100kg.

Javara came 1st in both Open and Youth Under 85kg categories with a total lift of 528kg! In doing so he broke the National record (of which he was the holder) with a lift of 130kg.

The dedication to their chosen sport is phenomenal, both mentally and physically. The huge number of hours in the gym along with the commitment to the strict nutritional regime required to succeed is a credit to the boys.
