On Thursday evening, in the OBHS auditorium, students, parents, caregivers, and teachers came along to enjoy performances from five of our fantastic school groups.
With big events such as Polyfest, the Dunedin Youth Jazz Festival, and The Big Sing, our cultural groups are often extremely busy rehearsing and performing separately, so it was fantastic to have a night where each group could perform, but also witness the other groups.
Ted Finney-Waters put a lot of time, effort, and stress into organising the concert to cap off term 3. A difficult task while negotiating the joys of school exams.
With Wairua Puhou (OBHS/OGHS Kapa Haka), All Blues (OBHS/OGHS Jazz Band), Mandate (OBHS Choir), Tamaiti O Le Moana (OBHS/OGHS Pasifika Performance Group), and Fortress (OBHS/OGHS Combined Choir), we packed in a variety of quality music in one evening. It was brilliant to see different students, cultures, instruments, and styles, be on show side by side in our school.
Thank you to the students and staff of Otago Girls' for joining us for the concert. We appreciate teaming up with you and enjoy these collaborations.
