Greetings to our School House Hostel families and wider community.  Here is our latest newsletter with information and updates.

Formal Dinner

We had a great night on the last Wednesday of term acknowledging some outstanding performances and contributions to School House in Term 3.  The boys and staff enjoyed a great meal provided by Donna Cooper and the kitchen team.  Special thank you to former Head of Hostel Liam Turner who shared some special insights and wisdom with our current hostel boys. Here are the award recipients for Term 3.

Upgrades over the break

Our staff and contractors have been busy these holidays attending to some upgrades and additions to the hostel.  We have added in some new doors to the dining room as well as a new layout with some new equipment to ensure our boys experience continues to improve and be beneficial for them.  We will have our new Weights Equipment ready for use in the McCaw Room and we are upgrading windows and roofing in Thomson and Hawthorne Dorms.  We will continue to make improvements throughout Term 4 and through the summer break.

Return to Hostel - Sunday 8th October - 2pm onwards

School House hostel will be open from 2pm onwards on Sunday 8th October ready to receive your son/s.  Please note as per our usual return to hostel rules at the start of a term, all boys are to be in Full School Uniform on arrival (refocuses their minds into learning and school mode).  We will also hold our Roll Call and start of term meeting at approximately 7pm that night in the dining hall.

Mitchell Cup - House Challenge

We have the final House Competition at the start of Term 4 to complete the events for 2023.  In a swing of points turnaround, Campbell House has now taken a narrow one point lead over Hawthorne House with Thomson House very close behind and Nicholson not too far away now.  The biggest impact  has been boys lateness to departure from hostel and lateness to school which has caused a deduction each time.  The final competition is the School House Haka competition.  This was also the event that decided the winner last year as well.

Upcoming Dates:

Sunday 8th October - Return to Hostel from 2pm onwards

Monday 9th October - 1st Day of Term 4 - full school assembly in the gym

Monday 30th October - Skippers Feast (Year 13 Farewell Dinner)

Tuesday 31st October - Senior Prize Giving

Wednesday 1st November - Year 13 March out of the Archway and Seniors on study leave.

Monday 6th November - NCEA Exams start

Friday 8th December - Last Day of School for Juniors
