During the holidays the Māori Hill Under 15 Gunners team travelled to the Gold Coast to play in the Premier Invitational Football Tournament.
12 of the 16 players are from OBHS!
The team played really well in a heat not normally seen in Dunedin.
Every game was a challenge, with teams being very strong and competitive. The team did very well to top Pool D and drew 1-1 in the quarter final, which they eventually won on penalties 3-1.
Unfortunately, the semi final after being 0-0 with Eastern Suburbs was lost on penalties. Māori Hill finished 3rd, and after watching part of the final against 2 very good teams we realised we had accomplished something the team could be proud of. The winners FC Bulleen Lions who beat Eastern Suburbs on penalties are the state champions of Victoria, and the club boosts more than 8,000 followers on their Facebook page.
