On Wednesday evening, 1 November 2023, ‘Cloud 9 Hydration’ from Otago Boys’ High School won the ‘Solving a developing problem’ award at the 2023 Otago Regional Final of the Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme.
The Year 13 Business Studies team were required to pitch to a panel of 4 judges before the awards were presented at the University of Otago Business School. The ‘Cloud 9 Hydration’ team of Matthew Bolter (CEO), Ashhal Shahzad, (CFO), Jack Thom and Tama McNamara pitched their innovative ‘Dopashot’ (a shot of happiness) health drink. Fifth member Teddy Finney-Waters was unfortunately unable to join the team because of music performance commitments.
A special mention to team mentors Barry Smith and Shahzad Saleem for their support of the team throughout the year and on the awards evening. This brought the curtain down on yet another very successful year of Business Studies at Otago Boys’ High School with the ‘Cloud 9 Hydration’ team continuing what is now an unbroken 9-year-stretch of OBHS enterprise teams making the Otago Regional Finals.
