Welcome to this weeks School House Newsletter.  It has been a great start to the long weekend in terms of weather around the region.  Our Rowers got off to their various locations for either a regatta or training camp and our cricketers have near perfect weather for their games while our boys at the touch camp will be sweating it out.  The weather has also provided the boys onsite a nice break from their studies leading into exams next week.  Here is some updates and some important information.

Man of the Week

Congratulations to Year 9 student Jimmy Roy for putting his hand up to help others by supporting his fellow hostel brothers or helping old boys when they visited. Well done Jimmy.

Year 7 Hostel Open Day - Friday 1st December

We have our annual Year 7 Hostel Open Day coming up on Friday 1st December from 9am - 2pm.  Morning Tea and Lunch will be provided. We already have a number of families registered which is great. Families considering Boarding for 2025 and beyond should register and attend to get good insight into School House hostel life as well as life at Otago Boys' High School.  There will be special tours of both school and hostel and some taster activities for boys to try out and get involved in.  Click on the link to register or forward it on to families who may be interested.  https://forms.gle/bEjouv734rTMMbn98

See you all then.

Year 8 Overnight Stay - 2024 Year 9s

We will welcome our new 2024 Year 9 enrollments into School House hostel for their over night experience from 3pm onwards.  We are looking forward to helping our new boys get to know the place alongside our 2024 School House Prefects, led by 2024 Head of Hostel, Archie Chittock.  We will also invite our new 2024 Year 10s and 11s on the same night to spend the night with our current Juniors in Year 9 and 10.

Reach System for Special/Overnight/Weekend Leave

We continue to encourage all parents to ensure they are using the Reach platform on their devices for any parental leave requirement so we have confirmed documentation and details to ensure boys are monitored and kept safe.  If any parents are having issues with Reach please let us know so we can assist you.  You can email [email protected]

1962 Old Boys Reunion and Visit.

It was great to have our 1962 OBHS Old Boys visit us in the hostel last weekend as part of their reunion and share some of their stories.  Great to have a number of them being former hostel boys also.  Some of our Juniors also took them on tours around School House and down at school during the week.

2. Provide a nutritious breakfast to help them stay focused.
