It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Rowing Squad.
The Canterbury champs were not completed due to wind so the boys stayed on in Twizel for the annual training camp, where they had 5 days of full on training and enjoying the heat. A quick return home for a week and then back up to the South Island Club champs, which unfortunately had wind issues as well, with only one full day of rowing held. Sunday was a beautiful day until the last hour when it started to rain. All races were won on times from the heats rather than finals. The squad had great success with the following accolades:
Novice 8 - Silver medal
Seth Affleck, Toby Ollerenshaw, Logan Millar, Jude Smillie, Ollie Scott, Hoani Kiwara, Jackson Templeton, Ben Glover and Hunter Ruxton.
Under 15 Octuple - Gold medal
Jude Smillie, Ollie Scott, Leo Garden, Tom Collie, Logan Millar, Cru Holland, George West, Jack MacAskill and cox Hunter Ruxton.
Novice Quad - Silver medal
Seth Affleck, Toby Ollerenshaw, Ollie Scott, Logan Millar and cox Beth Anderson.
Intermediate Quad - Gold medal
Andre Adams, Ben Thompson, Harvey Brown, Nic Thom and cox Noah Clarke.
Under 17 quad - Gold medal
Eddie Burgess, Harrison Thode, Roland Ozanne, Henry Lucas and cox Lauren Gibb.
The squad will be busy training on and off the water until the first weekend in March when they will attend the South Island Secondary Schools Regatta, followed by the Maadi Cup two weeks later.
