This morning our top junior orators walked with their classmates down to our friends at Otago Girls' High School to defend the Tennyson Shield.
Our two best public speakers, Angus Henderson and Bailey Cavanagh-Welch pitted their talents against their OGs counterparts, followed by a closely contested debate with Bailey (again), Colby Allen and Samuel Hewson.
Home advantage is a real influencer in this contest and our boys were definitely out of their comfort zones at times on stage.
Despite a loss in the debate to OGs by a single point, our public speakers dominated and got our team over the line to successfully defend our hold on the shield.
Many thanks to HOD English Kathryn Dick and everyone at Otago Girls' High School for hosting our boys. This was an entertaining contest showcasing some awesome talent amongst our students and we look forward to hosting the girls in 2017.
