Celebrating our senior students

By OBHS | Posted: Wednesday November 2, 2022

This week we have celebrated the end of the 2022 academic year and farewelled our senior students.

Senior prize giving was held on Tuesday evening. Academic, cultural and sporting excellence was recognised with a large number of boys crossing the stage with their achievements being acknowledged by staff, students and school community.

During the evening the student leadership team for 2023 was announced. Congratulations to Simi Puni - Head Boy, Matthew Bolter - Deputy Head Boy and Hamish Leyser - Head of School House.

Students performed a passionate haka for Dux Abdul Obaidullah. Other top scholars for the year were: Daniel Hayman - Proxime Accessit to Dux, Daniel Gilbert - School House Top Scholar, Nathaniel Williams - Top Māori Scholar and Sofa Letane Fesolai - Top Pasifika Scholar.

On Wednesday morning, the School Council provided a BBQ for all students at interval. With the weather playing its part, a number of our talented musicians took the opportunity to perform an impromptu concert for everyone to enjoy. Head Boy Isaac Ottrey addressed the senior school for the last time at the final senior assembly for the year. Here, Akelisi Tioti was awarded the Stuart Stevenson Good Character Award, a coveted award of which the recipient is selected by their peers.

Following assembly, the Year 13 students filed past a full school guard of honour before passing through the Archway for the final time as students of Otago Boys'.

We wish you all the very best for your exams and future endeavours.
